Yellow Warning - Winter Storm
Heavy snow and blowing snow are expected over some areas.
Locations: western Newfoundland.
Total snowfall: 30 to 40 cm, except 65 cm or more over higher terrain.
Maximum wind gusts: northerly 50 to 80 km/h except gusting to 100 km/h in the wreckhouse area.
Time span: until Sunday afternoon.
Remarks: Strong winds accompanying the snow will reduce visibility at times in blowing snow. Snow will accumulate steadily and substantially inland and over higher terrain, with lesser amounts expected near the coast. There are some indications that substantial snowfall accumulations in excess of 80 cm are possible over the Lewis Hills - Serpentine Lake area of western Newfoundland, and the Anguille Mountains in the southwest.
Blizzard-like conditions are expected to significantly disrupt travel and daily routines.
###
Travel may be hazardous. Visibility may be suddenly reduced to near zero at times.
