Yellow Warning - Winter Storm

Issued at Sat 5:34 AM Dec. 27
Issued by: Environment and Climate Change Canada
Description

Hazardous winter conditions are expected.

Locations: Great Northern Peninsula.

Total snowfall: 15 to 35 cm, with locally higher amounts possible.

Maximum wind gusts: northeasterly 80 to 110 km/h.

Time span: until Sunday morning.

Remarks: Strong winds accompanying the snow will reduce visibility at times in blowing snow. Mild temperatures near the freezing mark will result in dense, wet snowfall this afternoon and evening. While this may help limit widespread blowing snow by this afternoon, total accumulations could be significant - especially when added to those from the Christmas Day storm. Cleanup efforts could take longer than usual.

###

Travel will likely be challenging.

Winter Storm Warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather (such as snow, freezing rain, wind and rain) are expected or occurring.
