Description

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

A developing frontal system is ushering in an unstable airmass favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and torrential rainfall.

Severe thunderstorms are developing late this afternoon over southern Manitoba and are tracking northward.

Utility outages are possible. Significant damage to property, buildings and trees is possible. Fast-moving and rapidly rising water can sweep vehicles away and damage infrastructure.

Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Strong wind gusts can damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles. Large hail can cause significant damage and injury. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.

At 2:02 a.m. CDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging wind gusts, up to quarter size hail and heavy rain.

Thunderstorm Location:
Along a line from Nopiming Provincial Park to Minnesota.

Motion: Moving east at 50 km/h

Lake of the Woods
Kenora

Damage to roofs, fences, soft shelters or trees is likely.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are expected to produce damaging hail, wind or rain.

Take immediate cover if a thunderstorm approaches. If outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail. Don't drive through flooded roadways.
