Description


2 to 4 cm of snow is possible over higher terrain and inland areas near the coast. Further inland on Vancouver Island, up to 10 cm is possible over higher terrain.

When: Saturday morning and afternoon.

Where: Sunshine Coast, East Vancouver Island, Inland Vancouver Island and Malahat Highway.

Snowfall amounts: Locally 2 to 4 cm, except for 5 cm in Port Alberni and near 10 cm over higher elevations of Inland Vancouver Island.

Remarks: On Saturday, a frontal system will move onto the South Coast. Rain will begin overnight or early Saturday morning and become mixed with snow Saturday morning. Wet snow may reach sea level but generally no significant accumulation is expected for most areas. Local 2 to 4 cm accumulations are possible away from the coast. 5 to 10 cm is expected for Inland Vancouver Island with the largest amounts over higher elevations.

Strong warming is expected Saturday evening and any snow will transition back to rain as freezing levels rise to near 2000 metres.
