Description

A significant winter storm with heavy snow, strong winds and blowing snow is expected.

Locations: southeastern Labrador from L'Anse-au-Clair to Norman Bay.

Total snowfall: 25 to 50 cm (highest between Red Bay and Port Hope Simpson).

Maximum wind gusts: northerly to northeasterly 100 to 110 km/h.

Time span: this morning until overnight tonight.

Remarks: Snow, at times heavy, combined with strong winds will cause whiteouts making road and travel conditions treacherous. Snowfall rates of 2 to 5 cm per hour are possible. The strongest winds are expected this afternoon until overnight tonight.

Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Road closures are possible.
