Heavy rain late this afternoon through this evening will fall on a melting snowpack and partially frozen ground and frozen rivers leading to the quick runoff. Flows in some rivers will increase quickly, leading to the potential of minor flooding and increasing the potential for ice jams.
What: Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt is possible.
Where: Portions of central, east central, north central, and northeast Wisconsin, including the following areas, in central Wisconsin, Marathon, Portage, Waushara and Wood. In east central Wisconsin, Calumet and Winnebago. In north central Wisconsin, Langlade. In northeast Wisconsin, Brown, Door, Menominee, Northern Oconto County, Outagamie, Shawano, Southern Marinette County, Southern Oconto County and Waupaca.
When: Through Friday morning.
Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in minor flooding of low-lying and poor-drainage locations, including urban areas. Storm drains and ditches that are clogged with ice and snow may lead to flooding of adjacent roads. Minor flooding could occur on rivers, streams and creeks, including the potential for ice jams.
