Recommended Action

A Flood Warning means water levels above flood stage are imminent or may already be occurring. Persons along rivers and streams in the warned area should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. These forecasts are based on observed precipitation as well as forecast precipitation 24 hours into the future. Changes to the rainfall forecast, or any additional rainfall after 24 hours, may cause changes to these river forecasts. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. The next statement will be issued by Friday afternoon.

Description

What: Temperatures as low as 31 degrees Fahrenheit will result in frost formation.
Where: Portions of east central, north central, and northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.
When: From 1 AM CDT /2 AM EDT/ to 8 AM CDT /9 AM EDT/ Saturday.
Impacts: Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.

Recommended Action

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
