Cold Weather Advisory

Description

What: For the Wind Advisory, northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 40 mph expected. For the Freeze Warning, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 expected. For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as 22 expected.
Where: Coastal Hillsborough and Inland Sarasota Counties.
When: For the Wind Advisory, from 3 PM Saturday to 7 AM EST Sunday. For the Freeze Warning and Cold Weather Advisory, from 10 PM Saturday to 10 AM EST Sunday.
Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

Description

What: For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents expected. For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 5 to 7 feet expected in the surf zone.
Where: Pinellas, Coastal Hillsborough, Coastal Manatee, Coastal Sarasota, Coastal Charlotte and Coastal Lee Counties.
When: For the High Rip Current Risk, from 10 AM EST this morning through Sunday evening. For the High Surf Advisory, from 1 PM this afternoon to 7 PM EST Sunday.
Impacts: Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

Recommended Action

Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
