Coastal Flood Advisory
High Surf Advisory
What: Large breaking waves of 4 to 7 feet with dangerous rip currents. Minor coastal flooding due to abnormally high tides near 7 feet combined with elevated surf.
Where: Ventura County Beaches.
When: Until 9 PM PST this evening.
Impacts: There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore. Pooling of sea water is possible around high tide at beach and harbor areas that is uncommon with normal tidal ranges. Enhanced beach erosion is also possible. No significant damage is expected.
Additional Details: Peak high tides near 7 feet are expected between 8am and 11am. Thus a combination of large surf and peak high tides may result in in minor coastal flooding.
Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks.
