Yellow Warning - Freezing Rain

Issued at Tue 5:45 AM Apr. 21
Issued by: Environment and Climate Change Canada
Description

A period of freezing rain is expected.

Locations: parts of eastern and northeastern Newfoundland.

Freezing rain duration: 8 to 12 hours.
Total freezing rain amounts: 5 to 15 mm.

Time span: Wednesday morning until early Wednesday evening.

Remarks: The freezing rain will be preceded by a period of snow and ice pellets. The transition from ice pellets to freezing rain may be slower over the Gander and Bonavista North regions, with a quicker transition farther east. Freezing rain may later change to rain in some locations, especially near the coast, where temperatures are expected to become slightly milder.

###

Roads and walkways will likely become icy and slippery. Local utility outages are possible.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
