Yellow Warning - Winter Storm
A significant winter storm continues.
Locations: Green Bay - White Bay and Deer Lake - Humber Valley
Total snowfall: 20 to 30 cm, with up to 40 cm possible in the vicinity of White Bay and parts of the Baie Verte Peninsula.
Maximum wind gusts (this morning): east to northeasterly 60 to 80 km/h.
Maximum wind gusts (tonight): northwesterly 90 km/h, except 120 along exposed areas of the coast.
Time span: continuing until early Tuesday morning.
Remarks: Snow, at times heavy, and blowing snow will transition to a mixture of ice pellets and freezing rain this morning. A brief period of rain is expected over the Green Bay area this afternoon as temperatures rise to just above the freezing mark.
As temperatures fall late this afternoon, any rain or mixed precipitation will change back to snow. The combination of snow and very strong winds is likely to result in blizzard-like conditions tonight.
###
Travel will likely be challenging. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times.
