Yellow Warning - Winter Storm

Issued at Sat 11:03 PM Feb. 21
Issued by: Environment and Climate Change Canada
Description

Hazardous winter conditions continue.

Locations: St. John's and vicinity.

Total snowfall: 20 to 30 cm, except up to 40 cm along the Southern Shore.

Maximum wind gusts: north to northeasterly 80 to 100 km/h.

Time span: until Sunday afternoon.

Remarks: Snowfall rates of 2 to 4 cm per hour are possible, with locally higher amounts under heavier bands.

Conditions will rapidly deteriorate tonight as strong winds combine with fresh snowfall causing widespread reduced visibility in snow and blowing snow.

Conditions will gradually begin to improve throughout the day on Sunday as the snow tapers to scattered flurries.
