Description

What: Afternoon heat index values will reach or exceed 100 across much of the area, with some locations peaking around 107.
Where: A portion of East Tennessee, primarily in valley locations, including the Sequatchie Valley, will be most likely to approach heat indices near or slightly above 105F during the peak heat of the late afternoon hours.
When: Until 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ Friday.
Impacts: Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

Recommended Action

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
