Recommended Action
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.

Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: Southwestern Blount County in east Tennessee Central Monroe County in east Tennessee
When: Until 1245 PM EDT.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.
Additional Details: - At 944 AM EDT, local law enforcement reported heavy rain in Madisonville, TN due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is already occurring. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. - Standing water in and around Madisonville, TN, but no reported road closures. Flooding across Laurel Mountain Loop and Laurel Creek Road and Mannis Road. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain may result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Madisonville, Tariffville, Citico Beach, Citico, Talassee and Mount Vernon. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
