Description

The Flood Warning continues for the following river and locations in Illinoi
S: Indiana Wabash River at Covington, Montezuma, Terre Haute, Hutsonville Legacy Power Plant Site, Riverton, Vincennes, and Mount Carmel. .On the Wabash Riverminor flooding remains, with the moderate flood level having concluded at Montezuma and Terre Haute this morning. The river crest is at Hutsonville as of noon Saturday. Flooding began at Vincennes near daybreak this morning, and flooding is expected to begin at Mount Carmel tonight. Flooding is predicted to end on the Wabash on August 28. Largely dry weather is in store for the week ahead, with only low chances of rain Wednesday night and Thursday.
What: Minor flooding is forecast.
Where: Wabash River at Mount Carmel.
When: From late Sunday night to Saturday, August 29.
Impacts: At 20.0 feet, River is bankfull in all locations. All oil field production ceases with the exception of pumping units on substructures. Access to these are by boat only. Agricultural losses increase dramatically. Farmers move livestock to higher ground. City of Mount Carmel leaves flood gates B and C in year round.

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov/ind. The next statement should be issued late tonight by around 315 AM EDT /215 AM CDT/.
