The National Weather Service in Indianapolis IN has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers and locations in Indiana East Fork White River near Rivervale. White River at Newberry and Edwardsport. .Repeating rounds of showers and thunderstorms over the past 72 hours, ending at 8 AM this morning, has brought copious rainfall to eastern, northern central, and much of western Indiana. Maximum radar estimates across a swath from Clinton and Howard counties north of Indianapolis, east-southeast and southeast to Randolph and Decatur counties, show roughly six to 12.5 inches of rain has fallen! This has led to widespread flooding, some of it historic. Forecasts for the river levels to exceed flood stage have been consistent near Rivervale, Newberry , and Edwardsport. More rain, on and off, is in the forecast through Sunday night. Please keep abreast of changes to the forecast and our river products for the latest.
What: Minor flooding is forecast.
Where: White River at Edwardsport.
When: From Sunday afternoon to Monday, August 24.
Impacts: At 20.0 feet, Water is at critical levels for makeshift levees. Most of bottomlands flood. Old Vincennes road and State Road 358 between Plainville and Edwardsport are impassable by several feet. High water surrounds river cabins. This type of flood occurs on average about once a year.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges, dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream, even a small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route over higher ground. Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Impacts: At 24.0 feet, State Road 157 between Worthington and Bloomfield begins to flood. County Road 175 south of Bloomfield floods. County Road 100 W between CR 110 N and SR 67 (Jefferson Twp), CR 850 N between SR 48 and SR 157 (Jefferson Twp), CR 250 W between SR 54 and CR 250 N (Fairplay Twp), CR 200 W between CR 157 S and CR 260 S (Washington Twp), CR 100 W between CR 100 S and CR 260 S (Washington Twp), and CR 100 W between CR 250 W and the White River affected by high water.
