Description

What: Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: Northwestern Burke County in east central Georgia Columbia County in east central Georgia Lincoln County in east central Georgia McDuffie County in east central Georgia Richmond County in east central Georgia Western Aiken County in central South Carolina Edgefield County in central South Carolina McCormick County in central South Carolina
When: Until 100 AM EDT.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Additional Details: - At 1004 PM EDT, Continuing light to moderate rain may cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1.5 and 4.5 inches of rain have fallen over the last 6 hours. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain could result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Aiken, North Augusta, Grovetown, Evans, Thomson, Martinez, Fort Gordon, Belvedere, Augusta, Clearwater, Edgefield, Hephzibah, McCormick, Harlem, Lincolnton, Riverwood, J. Strom Thurmond Dam, Clarks Hill Recreation Area and Hamilton Branch State Park. - This includes the following highway
S: Interstate 520 in South Carolina between mile markers 16 and 23. Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 0 and 19. Interstate 20 in Georgia between mile markers 167 and 201. Interstate 520 in Georgia between mile markers 1 and 15. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

Most flooding deaths occur in vehicles. Never drive through a flooded roadway or around barricades. Turn around, don't drown. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
