Recommended Action
Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions.

Description

What: Dangerous rip currents and large breaking waves expected.
Where: Coastal Manatee, Coastal Sarasota, Coastal Charlotte and Coastal Lee Counties.
When: For the Rip Current Risk, from Friday morning through Saturday evening. For the High Surf Risk, from 11 AM Friday to 8 AM EDT Saturday.
Impacts: Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.|
