Description

At 108 PM PST, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Mendota, or 27 miles southwest of Madera, moving north at 15 mph.
Hazard: Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include Mendota, Firebaugh, and Panoche Road.

Recommended Action

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

What: Southeast winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.
Where: Kern River Valley, Los Banos - Dos Palos, Mariposa Madera Foothills, Mariposa-Madera Lower Sierra, Merced - Madera - Mendota, Planada - Le Grand - Snelling, and Yosemite Valley.
When: Until 4 PM PST Thursday.
Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Recommended Action

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects.
