Description

The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Southwestern Conecuh County in south central Alabama Western Escambia County in south central Alabama Southwestern Monroe County in south central Alabama Northwestern Baldwin County in southwestern Alabama South Central Clarke County in southwestern Alabama Mobile County in southwestern Alabama Southeastern Washington County in southwestern Alabama Northwestern Escambia County in northwestern Florida Until 800 PM CDT. At 207 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Downtown Mobile, Midtown Mobile, Prichard, Tillmans Corner, Saraland, Bay Minette, Atmore, Chickasaw, Satsuma, Citronelle, Creola, Chunchula, Stockton, McCullough, Gulfcrest, Axis, Uriah, Mount Vernon, Calvert and Excel.

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
