Flood Warning
What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: Coffee County in southeastern Alabama Western Dale County in southeastern Alabama Geneva County in southeastern Alabama
When: Until 1145 AM CDT Saturday.
Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas.
Additional Details: - At 232 AM CDT, Extremely heavy rain on Friday night due to Hurricane Isaias brought 5 to 12 inches of rain to the warned area. Heavy rain has ended, but small streams, creeks and rivers will continue to rise and flood for at least several more hours as water moves downhill and downstream. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Daleville, Elba, Enterprise, Fort Rucker, Geneva, Ozark, Level Plains, Samson, New Brockton, Ariton, Lee, Clayhatchee, Kinston, Coffee Springs, Enterprise Municipal A/P, Turner Crossroads, Battens Crossroads, Lucile and Shell Army Field. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
