Description

Forecast flooding changed to Minor severity and increased in duration for the following rivers in GeorgiaTennessee Toccoa/Ocoee River Above Copperhill TN affecting Polk and Fannin Counties. For the Ocoee Riverincluding Copperhill TN, OCOEE DAM #1 PARKSVILLE, Ocoee Dam #1 Tailwater at ParksvilleMinor flooding is forecast.
What: Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
Where: Toccoa/Ocoee River above Copperhill TN.
When: Until this evening.
Impacts: At 8.0 feet, Flood stage is reached. Minor flooding begins of woodlands, fields and backyards of homes near the river upstream and downstream from the gage off Tennessee Highway 68 or Ocoee Street in Copperhill Tennessee. The rock access road to the gage will begin to flood. Flooding begins in the backyards of homes and the Horsebend Park in McCaysville Georgia.
Additional Details: - At 6:00 AM EDT Sunday the stage was 8.5 feet. - Bankfull stage is 6.0 feet. - Recent ActivityThe maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 6:00 AM EDT Sunday was 9.1 feet. - ForecastThe river is expected to rise to a crest of 8.5 feet this morning. It will then fall below flood stage this afternoon. - Flood stage is 8.0 feet. - Flood HistoryThis crest compares to a previous crest of 8.6 feet on 09/17/2004. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
