Description
South to southwest winds will continue this morning across portions of southwest Elko county. Wind speeds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts of 25 to 35 mph are expected now through the day, though isolated strong winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts of 45 to 50 mph are possible from roughly Carlin east to Ryndon. This includes the I-80 corridor as well as State Route 227 and 228 through Spring Creek/Lamoille and Jiggs, respectively. Expect these anonymously strong winds to continue through 5am this morning. If driving these roadways this morning, expect rapid changes in wind speeds causing difficult driving conditions for high profile vehicles. Description

What: South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
Where: Southwest Elko County.
When: Until 7 PM PST Thursday.
Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down. Blowing dust may reduce visibilities down to one mile or less.

Recommended Action

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
