Description

What: Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: A portion of northeast New Jersey, including the following counties, Bergen, Essex and Passaic.
When: Until 500 AM EDT.
Impacts: River or stream flows are elevated.
Additional Details: - At 315 AM EDT, gauge reports indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.1 to 0.3 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Paterson, Passaic, Wayne, Hackensack, Bergenfield, Paramus, Ridgewood, Ramsey, Ridgefield, Fort Lee, Englewood, Hawthorne, Oradell, Fairfield, Norwood, Teterboro, Clifton, Teaneck, Fair Lawn and Garfield. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
