Description

The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in NebraskaIowa Wahoo Creek At Ithaca affecting Saunders County. West Fork Big Blue River Near Dorchester affecting Seward and Saline Counties. West Nishnabotna River At Hancock affecting Pottawattamie County. West Nishnabotna River At Randolph affecting Mills and Fremont Counties.
: The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in NebraskaIowa Salt Creek At Greenwood affecting Cass County. Salt Creek At North 27th Street affecting Lancaster County. Big Blue River Near Crete affecting Saline County. Big Blue River At Beatrice affecting Gage County. Turkey Creek near De Witt affecting Gage and Saline Counties. Turkey Creek Near Wilber affecting Saline County. Nishnabotna River Above Hamburg affecting Fremont County. Wahoo Creek At Wahoo affecting Saunders County. Salt Creek Near Ashland affecting Saunders County. Big Blue River Near Barneston affecting Gage County.
: The Flood Warning is cancelled for the following rivers in Nebraska Platte River Near Louisville affecting Cass and Sarpy Counties. Salt Creek at Roca affecting Lancaster County. Big Blue River Near Seward affecting Seward County.
What: Minor flooding is occurring.
Where: Salt Creek at North 27th Street.
When: Until Friday morning.
Impacts: At 23.0 feet, Lower areas between Capitol Beach and Interstate 80 flood, this includes commerical areas west of Sun Valley Boulevard and north of West O Street. Capitol Beach itself may see flooding along the east side closer to the railroad tracks.
Additional Details: - At 1:25 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 22.5 feet. - Bankfull stage is 20.5 feet. - Recent ActivityThe maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 1:25 PM CDT Thursday was 25.9 feet. - ForecastThe river is expected to fall below flood stage late this afternoon and continue falling to 3.8 feet early Tuesday afternoon. - Flood stage is 20.5 feet. - Flood HistoryThis crest compares to a previous crest of 22.7 feet on 09/08/1989. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely. Additional information is available at water.noaa.gov. The next statement will be issued this afternoon at 300 PM CDT.
