Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
Where: Portions of North Carolina, including the following areas, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin and Virginia, including the following areas, Alleghany VA, Amherst, Bath, Bedford, Botetourt, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Grayson, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Roanoke and Rockbridge.
When: Through late tonight.
Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain.
Additional Details: - Abundant moisture will interact with higher terrain and a strong low pressure system to produce several rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall, leading to instances of flash flooding. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
