Description

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has extended the Flash Flood Warning for Northeastern Harnett County in central North Carolina Southern Johnston County in central North Carolina Southwestern Wake County in central North Carolina Central Wayne County in central North Carolina Until 230 AM EDT. At 1202 AM EDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain in Smithfield. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.
Hazard: Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.
Source: Emergency management reported.
Impact: Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Goldsboro, Smithfield, Lillington, Dunn, Angier, Benson, Erwin, Coats, Four Oaks, Coats Crossroads, Buies Creek, Duncan, Raven Rock State Park, Shearon Harris Reservoir and Seminole.
