Recommended Action
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Flood Advisory

Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: A portion of central North Carolina, including the following counties, Edgecombe, Nash and Wilson.
When: Until 930 PM EDT.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Additional Details: - At 617 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Rocky Mount, Tarboro, Elm City, Dortches, Sharpsburg, Pinetops, Leggett, Kingsboro, Battleboro and Tar River Reservoir. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Description

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property. Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire.
