Description

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Southwestern Benton County in central Missouri Western Hickory County in central Missouri Eastern St. Clair County in west central Missouri Until 345 PM CDT. At 1154 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Warsaw, Hermitage, Weaubleau, Wheatland, Cross Timbers, Collins, Vista, Gerster, Quincy, Harper, Iconium, Whitakerville, Fristoe, Elkton, Racket, Palo Pinto, Truman Lake, Pomme de Terre Lake and Truman State Park.

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Many flood deaths occur in vehicles.
