Description

What: Flooding along the Muskegon River remains possible due to an ice jam.
Where: A portion of west central Michigan, including the following county, Newaygo.
When: Until 700 PM EST Thursday.
Impacts: Ice jams are notoriously unpredictable. Low-lying areas along the Muskegon River that are prone to flooding may see rapidly changing water levels as ice shifts and adjusts.
Additional Details: - At 418 PM EST, an ice jam continues to be reported by local authorities on the Muskegon river in southern Newaygo County. The river gauge at Newaygo shows water levels remaining at minor flood stage as of Wednesday afternoon. - As the river freezes up, ice can restrict the flow of the river and cause rises and falls in water level. While flooding associated with freeze up ice jams is typically minor, conditions can change rapidly and unpredictably. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Newaygo. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
