Description

The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Southern Ascension Parish in southeastern Louisiana Assumption Parish in southeastern Louisiana Southeastern Iberville Parish in southeastern Louisiana Northwestern Lafourche Parish in southeastern Louisiana St. James Parish in southeastern Louisiana West Central St. John The Baptist Parish in southeastern Louisiana Until 145 PM CDT. At 1038 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Gonzales, Donaldsonville, Napoleonville, Reserve, Gramercy, Lutcher, White Castle, Sorrento, Belle Rose, Paincourtville, Convent, Supreme, Labadieville, Geismar, Chackbay, North Vacherie, South Vacherie, Wallace and Garyville.

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
