Flood Advisory
What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: A portion of southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, Floyd, Knott, Letcher, Perry and Pike.
When: Until 630 AM EDT.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Additional Details: - At 317 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to showers and thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain is estimated to have fallen over much of the advisory area. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Hazard, Hindman, Wheelwright, Pippa Passes, Leburn, Tina, Carrie, Brinkley, Vest, Amburgey, Garner, Ivis, Yellow Mountain, Soft Shell, Mallie, Bearville, Emmalena, Ritchie, Elic and Spider.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
