THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILL ALLOW TORNADO WATCH 213 TO EXPIRE AT 10 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN IOWA THIS ALLOWS TO EXPIRE 10 COUNTIES IN NORTHWEST IOWA BUENA VISTA CHEROKEE CLAY DICKINSON O'BRIEN OSCEOLA PLYMOUTH SIOUX IN WEST CENTRAL IOWA IDA WOODBURY IN MINNESOTA THIS ALLOWS TO EXPIRE 2 COUNTIES IN SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA COTTONWOOD JACKSON THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ARNOLDS PARK, BATTLE CREEK, CHEROKEE, HARTLEY, HAWARDEN, HOLSTEIN, HULL, IDA GROVE, JACKSON, LAKEFIELD, LE MARS, MILFORD, MOUNTAIN LAKE, ORANGE CITY, ROCK VALLEY, SANBORN, SHELDON, SIBLEY, SIOUX CENTER, SIOUX CITY, SPENCER, SPIRIT LAKE, STORM LAKE, AND WINDOM.

Flash Flood Warning

Description

At 904 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 4.5 inches of rain have fallen. Minimal additional rainfall is expected.
Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
Source: Radar and automated gauges.
Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Le Mars, Maurice, Struble and Brunsville.

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
