THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 378 IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN GEORGIA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 18 COUNTIES IN NORTH CENTRAL GEORGIA CHEROKEE DAWSON FANNIN GILMER LUMPKIN PICKENS UNION IN NORTHEAST GEORGIA TOWNS WHITE IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA BARTOW CATOOSA CHATTOOGA DADE FLOYD GORDON MURRAY WALKER WHITFIELD THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF BLAIRSVILLE, BLUE RIDGE, CALHOUN, CARTERSVILLE, CHATSWORTH, CLEVELAND, COHUTTA WILDERNESS, COLWELL, DAHLONEGA, DALTON, DAWSONVILLE, DIAL, ELLIJAY, EPWORTH, FORT OGLETHORPE, HEMP, HIAWASSEE, HIGDON, JASPER, LAFAYETTE, ROME, SUMMERVILLE, TRENTON, AND WOODSTOCK.

Description

At 821 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Lindale, or near Rome, moving east at 40 mph.
Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Rome, Cartersville, Adairsville, Euharlee, Emerson, White, Kingston, Cassville, Shannon, Lindale, Folsom, Pine Log, and Funkhouser.

Recommended Action

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
