Description

The National Weather Service in Tampa Bay Ruskin has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Northwestern Hillsborough County in west central Florida Southeastern Pinellas County in west central Florida Until 1045 PM EDT. At 914 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.
Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Lutz, Citrus Park, Greater Northdale, Greater Carrollwood, Keystone, Egypt Lake-Leto, Lake Magdalene, East Lake, University, West Park, Oldsmar, Westchase, Town N Country, Lake Fern, Carrollwood, Cheval and Raymond James Stadium.

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
