Description

What: Dangerously hot conditions with several days of Major to Extreme heat risk.
Where: Indian Wells Valley, Mojave Desert, and Mojave Desert Slopes.
When: From 11 AM Thursday to 11 PM PDT Monday.
Impacts: Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events.
Additional Details: Long duration extreme heat with no overnight relief will affect health systems, industries and infrastructure. The entire population within the Watch is at risk for heat related illnesses. Please prepare ahead of time to find air conditioning or a cooling shelter before the heat arrives.

Recommended Action

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Stay cool, stay hydrated, stay informed. If you do not have air conditioning in your home or lack shelter, seek out resources provided by your local community management.
