Description

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Yavapai County in west central Arizona Until 600 PM MST. At 306 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area, including Interstate 17 just north of Cordes Junction. Between 1 and 2.25 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Hazard: Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.

Impact: Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, normally dry washes, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Cordes Lakes, Agua Fria National Monument and Arcosanti. This includes Interstate 17 between mile markers 264 and 273. This includes the following creeks, washes and river
S: Agua Fria River, Osborne Spring Wash, Little Ash Creek, Yarber Wash, Dry Creek, Big Bug Creek, Ash Creek, Indian Creek, Sycamore Creek and Brushy Wash.

Recommended Action

Flooding of washes and creeks will occur, some dirt roads will become muddy and impassable. Paved roads and underpasses could become flooded as well.
