Flash Flood Warning
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Flash Flood Warning for East Central Autauga County in central Alabama Southern Elmore County in east central Alabama Lee County in east central Alabama Eastern Lowndes County in south central Alabama Montgomery County in south central Alabama Northern Barbour County in southeastern Alabama Bullock County in southeastern Alabama Macon County in southeastern Alabama Northwestern Pike County in southeastern Alabama Russell County in southeastern Alabama Until 300 AM CDT. At 1202 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Montgomery, Auburn, Prattville, Phenix City, Opelika, Millbrook, Tuskegee, Union Springs, Notasulga, Hurtsboro, Midway, Milstead, Meadville, Smiths, Pike Road, Smiths Station, Coosada, Shorter and Franklin. US Highway 82 between mile markers 140 and 178and between mile markers 179 and 229. US Highway 231 between mile markers 88 and 96and between mile markers 97 and 117and near mile marker 137. US Highway 280 between mile markers 96 and 106and between mile markers 116 and 137. Interstate 65 between mile markers 147 and 180. Interstate 85 between mile markers 1 and 69.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
