Special Weather Statement

Issued at Wed 4:37 AM Mar. 11
Issued by: Environment and Climate Change Canada
Description

A combination of snow, ice pellets, freezing rain, and rain is expected.

Time span: this evening until Thursday afternoon.

Potential snow and ice pellet amounts: 5 to 10 cm, possibly more.

Potential freezing rain duration: possibly more than 3 hours.

Remarks: A low pressure system is expected to bring a variety of wintry precipitation this evening into Thursday. There remains some uncertainty in the exact track of this system but there is potential for significant amounts of snow and ice pellets as well as a prolonged period of freezing rain.

Accumulations of snow and ice may create slippery and hazardous travel or walking conditions. Ice buildup on trees and utility infrastructure may cause damage or outages.

Plan ahead in case schools or scheduled activities are cancelled. Consider adjusting travel plans to avoid the most adverse conditions.
