Yellow Warning - Rainfall
Significant rainfall is expect after a period of snow, ice pellets, and freezing rain.
Locations: Southwest coast.
Total rainfall: 15 to 25 mm with possibly 50 mm in Burgeo - Ramea.
Time span: Thursday and Thursday night.
Remarks: A strong system is expected to bring significant rainfall to the southwest coast. Precipitation will begin as snow before transitioning to a brief period of ice pellets and freezing rain tonight, before transitioning to rain by Thursday morning. Rainfall rates of 5 to 10 mm per hour may occur over some locations with highest rates possible in Burgeo.
Significant runoff is likely due to recent snowmelt and frozen ground conditions. Localized flooding in low lying areas may occur where water cannot be absorbed by the ground or cannot properly drain. Additionally, streams and rivers may run significantly higher than normal due to the increased runoff.
###
Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas.
Rainfall warnings are issued when significant impacts are expected due to rainfall amounts.
