Description

A winter storm is expected for late Christmas Day into Boxing Day.

Location: the western portion of the Great Northern Peninsula.

Time span: late Thursday afternoon until Friday morning.

Projected snowfall: 5 to 15 cm.

Projected maximum wind gusts: northeasterly 70 to 80 km/h shifting to northwesterly 80 to 110 km/h Thursday night.

Blowing snow: likely widespread, especially Thursday night.

Remarks: The worst conditions in snow and blowing snow are expected to occur overnight Thursday night. Winds are expected to ease Friday morning. Consider changing travel plans to before or after the storm if possible.

Additionally, another similar system may impact the same area from Friday night into Saturday. While there is moderate uncertainty regarding this system, the public is advised to monitor updated forecasts closely and consider this potential disruption when planning holiday travel.
