Yellow Warning - Winter Storm

Issued at Wed 10:54 AM Dec. 24
Issued by: Environment and Climate Change Canada
Description

A winter storm with heavy snowfall and blowing snow is expected for Christmas Day.

Locations: Green Bay - White Bay, and Grand Falls-Windsor and vicinity.

Total snowfall: 10 to 20 cm, with locally higher amounts possible.

Maximum wind gusts Thursday: northeasterly 70 to 90 km/h
Maximum wind gusts Thursday night: north to northwesterly 80 to 110 km/h.

Time span: Thursday morning to overnight Thursday night.

Remarks: Strong winds accompanying the snow will reduce visibility at times in blowing snow. The strongest winds are expected along the coast. Snow and blowing snow is expected to ease overnight Thursday night for inland areas and early Friday morning for coastal areas.

Additionally, another similar system may impact the area from Friday night into Saturday. While there is moderate uncertainty regarding this system, the public is advised to monitor updated forecasts closely and consider this potential disruption when planning holiday travel.
