Yellow Warning - Winter Storm
A significant winter storm is expected.
Locations: Corner Brook and vicinity.
Total snowfall: 15 to 35 cm.
Maximum wind gusts: (Sunday night and Monday) easterly 80 to 100 km/h, with potentially higher gusts in areas prone to enhanced easterlies in the vicinity of the outer Bay of Islands.
Maximum wind gusts: (Monday night) north to northwesterly 90 to 120 km/h.
Time span: overnight Sunday night until early Tuesday morning.
Remarks: After several hours of snow, at times heavy, on Sunday night, precipitation will transition to a mixture of snow and ice pellets with strong winds early Monday morning. Snowfall, ice pellets, and winds will begin to ease Monday afternoon, but snow accompanied by strong northwesterly winds is expected to intensify again Monday night. The combination of snow and strong winds is likely to result in blizzard-like conditions with poor visibility.
