Description

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a Flash Flood Warning for South Central Forest County in northwestern Pennsylvania Northeastern Clarion County in west central Pennsylvania Jefferson PA County in west central Pennsylvania Until 600 AM EDT. At 305 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Clarion, Brookville, Knox, Reynoldsville, Brockway, Sykesville, Falls Creek, Big Run, Strattanville, Summerville, Limestone, Shippenville, Corsica, Sigel, Fisher, Knox-Dale, Clear Creek State Park, Clarington, Cook Forest State Park and Anita.

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
