Description

What: Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations 5 to 10 inches through tonight within the most persistent lake snows across Jefferson and Lewis counties. Additional, more general accumulations of 3 to 8 inches are expected Wednesday and Wednesday night, with lake effect snow then expected to accumulate another 12 to 18 inches Thursday through Friday. Winds gusting as highs as 35 mph creating blowing and drifting snow and at times white out conditions. Snowfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour or higher in the most intense part of the band through tonight.
Where: The Eastern Lake Ontario Region. The greatest snow accumulations will be across southern Jefferson County, extreme northern Oswego County, and Lewis County.
When: Until 7 PM EST Friday.
Impacts: Travel will be very difficult within the heaviest lake effect snowbands. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commutes.

Recommended Action

Heavy lake effect snow will create dangerous travel conditions. Periods of snow will result in snow covered roads and limited visibilities. Slow down and use caution while driving. Submit snow reports through our website or social media.
