THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 425 IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM CDT /9 PM MDT/ THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN KANSAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 18 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL KANSAS ELLIS IN SOUTHWEST KANSAS FINNEY FORD GRANT GRAY HAMILTON HASKELL HODGEMAN KEARNY MEADE MORTON SEWARD STANTON STEVENS IN WEST CENTRAL KANSAS LANE NESS SCOTT TREGO THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF CIMARRON, DEERFIELD, DIGHTON, DODGE CITY, ELKHART, FOWLER, GARDEN CITY, HANSTON, HAYS, HUGOTON, JETMORE, JOHNSON CITY, LAKIN, LIBERAL, MEADE, MONTEZUMA, NESS CITY, PFEIFER, PLAINS CITY, SATANTA, SCOTT CITY, SCOTT STATE LAKE, SUBLETTE, SYRACUSE, ULYSSES, AND WAKEENEY.

Description

At 827 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Utica to 6 miles northeast of Beeler to 12 miles south of Alamota, moving east at 30 mph.
Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Arnold, Ransom and Ness City.

Recommended Action

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
