Yellow Warning - Air Quality

Issued at Tue 2:26 PM Jun. 30
Issued by: Environment and Climate Change Canada
Description

Smoke is causing or expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility.

Wildfire smoke from northern Alberta continues to drift westward into northeastern British Columbia, affecting the Fort Nelson area. Elevated PM2.5 concentrations persist across the region and may remain elevated as smoke continues to be transported into the area. Also, smoke from Alberta continues to drift westward into southeastern British Columbia, affecting the East Columbia and Elk Valley area. PM2.5 concentrations remain elevated due to ongoing cross-border smoke transport. Air quality is expected to improve gradually as smoke disperses. However, elevated particulate levels may persist for some time before returning to normal.

During a wildfire, smoke conditions can change quickly over short distances and can vary considerably hour-by-hour.
