Monday, June 24th 2019, 10:26 am - Motorists advised to avoid Route 510 since they won't be able to cross it
A section of the key highway in southern Labrador is impassable Monday following a serious washout.
The Department of Transportation and Works said the affected section of the Trans-Labrador Highway is about 18 km south of the Churchill River.
The department is warning motorists to avoid Route 510, the section of the highway in southern Labrador, because they will not be able to cross it.
Support posts along the highway are hovering in the air, after the road beneath washed away.
Government crews were on site Monday morning to assess the damage.
The department said crews will be able to assess the situation once water levels recede.
