Could be the hottest days of 2020 for the Prairies, storm risks
The heat starts building in on the Eastern Prairies, cranking up those humidex values. Chance of storms across Alberta.
Temperatures will soar into the 30s on Tuesday, though with a more widespread storm risk in Alberta to watch out for. Tuesday morning the risk of thunderstorms stays west of Highway 2, but the storms shift in the evening heading toward Edmonton. We're keeping an eye on a few other areas across the province for some severe storm activity. For more details, see below.

TUESDAY: HEAT, STORM RISK BUILD
The heat continues to rise Tuesday, and most major communities in Alberta and Saskatchewan can expect to be at, or slightly above, the 30-degree mark.
That's a comfortable few degrees above the previous maximums recorded in those cities so far this summer. In Calgary's case, it should put an end to a below-30°C streak that, had it continued, would have seen the city not reach that threshold for the first time in 25 years.
That ridge will shift slowly to the east through the first half of the week, so Alberta will see a slow fall back to seasonal as we approach next weekend.
There will be a little more instability building at the surface around central Alberta and Saskatchewan, thanks to an upper trough. As such, Calgary and areas north may see thunderstorms fire up in the afternoon, potentially severe.
There is a cluster of storms that could develop Tuesday evening. Along the foothills, there doesn't look like there's enough energy to spark a storm, but it's on our radar. Mostly focusing on Edmonton and Red Deer as a possible area for some storm action. There's a higher probability that storms could pop up north of the Yellowhead. Storms look pretty favourable just north and east of Edmonton as well. Storm risks include large hail, damaging winds and heavy rainfall.
