Lightning strike injures six people at PGA championship
A lightning strike has injured six people who were taking shelter during stormy weather during the PGA Tour Championship in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday.
Atlanta Police told the Associated Press lightning struck the top of a 20-metre tall pine and "shattered the bark all the way to the bottom."
The debris is being blamed for injuries suffered by the six victims.
The injuries have been described as non-life-threatening. Atlanta Police spokesman James H. White III said the victims -- five men and one juvenile female -- were taken to hospital.
The PGA Tour organization had suspended play during the event's third round as storms moved through the Atlanta area, telling spectators and players to take shelter. After the injuries occurred, the PGA Tour announced the third round was suspended, with play set to resume on Sunday at 8 a.m.
